LIFE Inc. has a computer loan program for people with disabilities that are attempting to learn computer skills.
If a person with a disability has a goal to learn the computer and is willing to attend classes to learn the computer, LIFE Inc. can loan that person the use of a computer for as long as they are attending class.
The person is responsible for filling out an application that would enable LIFE to put the computer in their home. The computer specialist or teacher also needs to fill out a LIFE form verifying the status of the course work. They would also receive a form to fill out and mail to LIFE at the completion of the class or if the student decides to quit so the computer will be promptly returned to LIFE Inc.
This program could extend up to one year, so the Independent Living Advisor will be checking with the student on a periodic basis to make sure the computer is in good working order and it is benefiting the student to reach their expressed goal.
This program is available in Idaho Falls only. For more information E-mail: Valerie Johnson or Phone: 208-529-8610
Idaho's HCBS Waiver allows more choices for adults who are elderly or physically disabled. After identifying unmet needs, eligible Medicaid consumers will be able to choose services that will allow them to stay in their own homes or communities.
This is a consumer, self-directed program. The consumer is the employer of his/her attendant. The consumer has the right to make decisions about, direct the provision of, and control all services. This includes hiring, training, managing, and firing an attendant.
A Fiscal Intermediary handles employment paperwork, paychecks and employment taxes for the employees you hire to administer your services. An Fiscal Intermediary also explains how the program works and assists you as needed.
Please contact Michelle Jackman, our Fiscal Intermediary Manager at LIFE, Inc. for more information.
